MOSAik is my final project in the postgraduate in Space & Service Design. I'm doing this project with my good friend and classmate Reinout.

Our class is working on improving the lives of residents in an elderly care facility. For this project, we focus on WZC Aalmoezenier Cuypers.

Our challenge:

Create an authentic living experience for the residents by connecting them with the surroundings and with each other.
This by identifying the people within the facility in a visual way, creating a mosaic of identities throughout the facility.

Our solution:

An identity board hanging next to the room doors of the residents. On these boards, they can express themselves. They can add pictures, things they made, things they're proud of. It's a bit like an offline Facebook profile.

​

On the board, there are also some cards which illustrate certain factors of the residents' life. These will be used for all residents but will be more important for the ones who don't have much to showcase.

This solution should create conversation starters and so create a more pleasant environment where the residents know each other and the visitors can see whom their relative is living with.
